I led a team with my partners, Rishi Anarkat and John McKillip-Murphy, where we wrote a research paper in the Business Services Operations Research (BSOR) event for DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America). DECA is a global student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management through competitions, leadership conferences, and career development programs. Businesses today are facing labor shortages across all industries, and the prompt for the BSOR event was to collaborate with a local business or organization to analyze their current process for recruiting, hiring, onboarding and retaining employees. We then used this data to create and present a strategic plan for the company to attract and retain employees. The company we decided on was Concentra, the largest Urgent Care company in the United States with over 524 locations. We emerged 3rd out of 36 teams in New Jersey and advanced to the International conference in Anaheim, California, where we competed against 160 teams and placed in the 95th percentile.
